Why Sweep?

According to statistics there are over 25,000 Chimney Fires per year in the US that are responsible for over 125 million dollars in property damage. House fires start when creosote (a carbonaceous chemical) builds up on the interior of your chimney. Even so, some homeowners continue to disregard this significant risk, and don’t take proper measures when it comes to chimney cleaning. If your here reading this then its time for a chimney sweep.

HOW OFTEN?

How often should we sweep and clean our chimneys?

This depends a lot on how much you use your fireplace. The National Fire Protection Association says, “Chimneys, fireplaces, and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. Cleaning, maintenance, and repairs shall be done if necessary.” So, even if you don’t use your chimney a whole lot – birds, squirrels, raccoons and other critters may have been using your chimney making it unsafe to use without clearing out the accumulated debris from nesting activity.

So the minimum is once a year.

WHEN SHOULD I?

Spring is the best time of year to have your chimney cleaned.

Here’s the comparison between the two seasons and why you should schedule your chimney cleaning in the spring or summer: Fall & Winter

Once September comes, nearly every reputable chimney company has a waiting list that is weeks or even months long! But even if this weren’t so, spring would still be the best time of year to get your chimney inspected and cleaned.

When winter appears and you need your chimney sweep we will certainly sweep it, but lets first inspect and make sure everything is in good standings.
